Year 8 Surrealist Collages

This half of term Year 8 have been completing a collage project based upon the work of the Surrealist movement of the 1920's and 30's. The pupils began by researching the movement and the artists involved, such as Max Ernst and Salvador Dali. The pupils then collected images from magazines, concentrating on scale before placing them in a dreamlike arrangement.I think Dali would approve with the art that Year 8 have produced!

Experimental Mark Making with Year 5

This term Year 5 are studying the theme of 'Movement'. As part of this, the pupils spent a lesson exploring movement through experimental mark making. The first half of the lesson was spent creating their own paintbrushes from a range of natural and man-made materials. In the second half of the lesson the students painted with their new paintbrushes using ink. A wide variety of effects were created in this way. The drawings that the pupils created in this lesson will be incorporated into a larger final piece later in the term.
